Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Project Manager – PV to support the successful delivery of a utility-scale solar PV project in Mauritania. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate project activities across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Commercial, HSE, QA/QC, and Logistics, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in the overall planning, coordination, and execution of the PV project from mobilization through construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities across multidisciplinary project teams and ensure effective communication and alignment.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to monitor design deliverables, technical queries, RFIs, design changes, and constructability issues.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics to ensure timely availability and delivery of critical materials, equipment, and services.
  • Support the Construction Manager in monitoring construction activities, work fronts, productivity, resources, subcontractors, and schedule performance.
  • Monitor project progress, milestones, schedule, cost, and overall performance in coordination with Project Controls.
  • Identify project risks, constraints, delays, and potential cost impacts and support the development of mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Support the management of variations, claims, subcontractor performance, and contractual matters in coordination with Commercial and Contracts teams.
  • Assist in managing relationships with the client, owner's engineer, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in project and client meetings and ensure actions, commitments, and project issues are properly tracked and resolved.
  • Support compliance with HSE, QA/QC, contractual, and technical requirements throughout project execution.
  • Consolidate project information and support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Support commissioning, punch-list closure, final handover, as-built documentation, and project close-out activities.
  • Act as a key coordination point and support the Project Manager in decision-making and project management when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • 8–10+ years of relevant experience in project management, construction management, or project execution, preferably in utility-scale solar PV.
  • Proven experience in large-scale solar PV EPC projects.
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Project Manager, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or similar senior role is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the EPC project lifecycle, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Handover.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
  • Strong knowledge of project scheduling, cost and progress control, risk management, and reporting.
  • Good understanding of EPC contracts, variations, claims, and commercial processes.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Primavera P6, Power BI, ERP, or other project controls tools are an advantage.
  • Fluent English is required; French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
  • Willingness to be based in Mauritania for the duration of the project.
