QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications

• Engineering University degree or from a reputable university, minimum 5 years experience
• Develop detailed layouts and civil design packages that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements
• Experience in designing structural projects (PV projects- preferred) in large scale
• Familiar with calculation
• Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering firms and contractors
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other calculation/simulation program
• Experienced or knowledgeable in preparing bill of quantity/bill of material list from given drawings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Conducts on-site solar PV system commissioning and troubleshooting
• Experience in design programs 2D and 3D systems

Job Description

• The Senior Civil and Structural Design Engineer is responsible for performing and reviewing structural analysis and complete design calculations using the latest codes; prepare and manage the production of construction drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations. Client interaction and communication on projects will be expected in addition to the mentorship of designers. This position will also perform engineering-related duties involved with other Prescient business units, including pre-construction, project management, purchasing, planning, and finance.
• Creating structural engineering plans, details and calculations for Utility and Commercial scale solar projects in various regions with high wind, seismic and snow loads.
• Designing concrete or steel foundations for project equipment to meet jurisdictional requirements at local, State and Federal levels for various geotechnical parameters and soil types.
• Leading any site test (for instance Pull Out Test) and ensure that it is carried out according to relevant standards and client’s requirements and expectations.
• Reviewing and responding to project construction administration items including Requests for Information (RFI), shop drawings, and submittals.
• Reviewing the designs of the EPCs to confirm compliance with the project requirements and code.
• Reading and understanding site studies, such as geotechnical reports.
• Reading and understanding existing and proposed structural, architectural and civil drawings.
• Ability to manage time efficiently across multiple projects.
• Coordination with clients on their expectations.
• Gaining deep knowledge of PV system components such as modules, racking, inverters and Balance of Systems (BOS).
• Ability to work with and be supported by other engineers for guidance.
• Technical support to business development or sales team for tender, bidding or after sales technical support.
• Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
