We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Site Engineer (Civil) to join our team on large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects based in Australia and New Zealand. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction and infrastructure works, including site grading, earthworks, road construction, drainage systems, foundations, equipment plinths, cable trenches, and structural concrete works, ideally with experience in utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, substations, or other large-scale infrastructure and energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities on utility-scale Solar PV and BESS project sites.
- Ensure civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable HSE requirements.
- Review civil drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and construction procedures prior to execution.
- Monitor and supervise site grading, earthworks, road construction, drainage systems, foundations, equipment plinths, cable trenches, fencing, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors, survey teams, consultants, client representatives, and other project disciplines.
- Monitor construction progress, identify risks or delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain the project schedule.
- Verify quantities, review subcontractor progress, and support preparation of progress reports.
- Participate in inspections, quality control activities, and ensure compliance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Resolve technical issues in coordination with engineering, construction, and quality teams.
- Support project planning, site logistics, and interface management between civil, electrical, and mechanical works.
- Ensure accurate as-built records and support project documentation and handover activities.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in compliance with company and project HSE requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction of utility-scale Solar PV, BESS, substations, or other infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience working on EPC construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of earthworks, foundations, concrete structures, drainage systems, roads, cable trenches, and site development works.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, layouts, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with international construction standards and quality control procedures.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English is required.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work on project sites.
Preferred Experience
- Experience on utility-scale Solar PV projects (50 MW+).
- Experience supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
- Experience with international EPC contractors.
- Familiarity with Australian and/or New Zealand construction standards and regulations.
- Experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments.
