INTEC Energy Solutions delivers best-in-class services in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Project Development, Consultancy, and Operation & Maintenance, along with New Energy Solutions. With a globally experienced team, INTEC has managed over 200 projects and achieved an installed and secured capacity of 5 GW. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, INTEC also operates offices in Germany, Türkiye, Spain, Azerbaijan, Romania, Mauritius, Mauritania, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, with plans for further expansion.
Summary
We are seeking a Senior Tendering Engineer to lead the technical definition and engineering estimation of utility-scale Solar PV EPC tenders (and of photovoltaic projects with storage). Based in Madrid, the role has a global scope, supporting bids across all of INTEC's international markets.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role at the core of the tendering process. The Senior Tendering Engineer is responsible for the technical solution of each offer: the plant design assumptions, the energy yield base case, the performance framework and the complete Bill of Quantities that feeds the project cost sheet.
The successful candidate must be able to produce a Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for a utility-scale photovoltaic project independently and end-to-end, master the energy yield Base Case and the production scenarios (P50/P90), and have a thorough command of performance and Performance Ratio (PR) testing for photovoltaic plants.
This position works in close coordination with the international technical hubs, the Senior Bid/Proposal Manager and the Global Director of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical engineering definition of utility-scale Solar PV and PV-plus-BESS EPC tenders across INTEC's global markets.
- Produce the complete Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for photovoltaic projects independently and end-to-end, from the layout and electrical design assumptions to the detailed material take-off.
- Build, own and defend the energy yield Base Case, including PVsyst modeling and production scenarios under different probability-of-exceedance cases (P50/P75/P90).
- Define and review the performance framework of each offer, including Performance Ratio (PR) guarantees, the design of capacity/performance tests and the acceptance criteria for photovoltaic plants.
- Translate the technical scope into structured, accurate engineering inputs that feed the project cost sheet and pricing matrix.
- Coordinate and consolidate inputs from the international technical hubs, ensuring consistency, completeness and technical quality across disciplines.
- Analyze the tender technical documentation (specifications, grid codes, single-line diagrams, geotechnical and site data) to identify risks, gaps and optimization opportunities.
- Optimize the technical solution to improve competitiveness while preserving deliverability and compliance.
- Support the Senior Bid/Proposal Manager in preparing technical proposals, clarifications and the technical narrative of each offer.
- Engage with equipment suppliers (modules, inverters, structures, BESS) to obtain technical data and validate design assumptions.
- Participate in client clarification rounds, technical Q&A and negotiation when required.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to the standardization of engineering estimation tools, templates and benchmarks.
- Collaborate in opening new markets and in proposals to key clients, leading the part related to their area of expertise.
Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Energy or similar); a postgraduate qualification in renewable energy is an advantage.
- Proven experience of 5 to 7 years as a tendering/estimation engineer in utility-scale Solar PV EPC projects.
- Proven ability to produce a complete Bill of Quantities for a photovoltaic project independently and end-to-end.
- Thorough command of the energy yield Base Case and production modeling, including PVsyst and the P50/P90 exceedance scenarios.
- Solid knowledge of performance and Performance Ratio (PR) testing, capacity tests and acceptance criteria for photovoltaic plants.
- Solid knowledge of photovoltaic plant design: layout, structures, DC/AC electrical design, BOS, grid connection and high-voltage interfaces.
- Experience with photovoltaic-plus-storage (BESS) configurations will be a significant advantage.
- Command of PVsyst, PVcase/AutoCAD and advanced cost modeling in Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders.
- Experience coordinating multicultural technical teams and international hubs.
- Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages will be valued positively.
- Right to work in Spain or the EU.
- Passion for sustainability and commitment to quality and innovation.
