Senior Design Manager

The Senior Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of designers to create innovative, high-quality designs that meet both business and client objectives. The role combines leadership, creativity, and project management, ensuring that design projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Senior Design Manager will oversee design strategies, mentor the design team, and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of design elements across all touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement design strategies that align with business goals and brand vision.
• Develop detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and all required documentation to provide technical solutions aligned with customer requirements, budget, and timelines.
• Support tendering activities, including collaborating with suppliers and managing supply chain processes.
• Analyze and interpret customer requirements to design effective electrical systems.
• Prepare system architecture designs for solar projects.
• Create and maintain accurate Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and Bill of Materials (BoM) for projects.
• Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and communicate specifications to suppliers.
• Evaluate and assess technical proposals from suppliers to ensure alignment with project goals and quality standards.
• Design large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, considering industry best practices and codes.
• Develop wiring layout designs, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Draft technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering firms and contractors.
• Conduct on-site commissioning and troubleshooting of solar PV systems.
• Ensure familiarity with relevant codes and regulations applicable to electrical and solar PV designs.
• Manage design programs and software tools, including AutoCAD, PVsyst, PV*Sol, PVcase, and other calculation and simulation platforms.
• Proficiently use Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
• Collaborate effectively with managers and colleagues to ensure seamless project execution.
• Possess strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills, ensuring the efficient management of multiple projects.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Foster an open-minded, proactive approach to learning and self-development in the renewable energy field.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers to produce creative and high-quality work.
• Provide constructive feedback, guide team members in improving design skills, and encourage innovation.
• Conduct performance reviews and manage team development goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a reputable university.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in design, with a focus on power systems or grid integration. Solar experience is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV system and BESS design, including familiarity with grid connection requirements.
• Strong experience in large-scale solar PV system design, BESS and engineering.
• Experience with 2D and 3D system design programs is a plus.

Quality Control and Review:

• Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and usability.
• Review and approve final design outputs before release, ensuring they meet client or internal specifications.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in on-site troubleshooting and commissioning.
