We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated HV Construction Manager to lead the construction and site execution of High Voltage (HV) infrastructure for utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia and New Zealand.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all HV construction activities from mobilization through energization, ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of substations and grid connection infrastructure in accordance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities related to High Voltage (HV) infrastructure.
  • Oversee the construction of HV substations, power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, protection and control systems, HV cable installations, and grid connection facilities.
  • Ensure all construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, client representatives, utility companies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks and delays, and implement corrective actions to achieve project milestones.
  • Review and manage construction schedules, manpower planning, material availability, equipment resources, and site logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with approved construction methodologies, HSE requirements, quality procedures, and applicable local and international standards.
  • Support and coordinate inspections, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization, and project handover activities.
  • Manage site documentation, including daily reports, construction records, punch lists, NCRs, RFIs, and project close-out documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, Commissioning, and Project Management teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Lead site coordination meetings, progress reviews, and interface management with clients, utilities, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure strict compliance with company and project HSE policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing HV construction works within large-scale EPC projects.
  • Proven experience delivering HV substations, transmission systems, grid connection infrastructure, and utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HV equipment, including power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, protection and control systems, HV cables, and substations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams, subcontractors, and site operations.
  • Solid understanding of construction planning, scheduling, site management, quality assurance, and commissioning support.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Fluent English is essential.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work on project sites across Australia and New Zealand.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience delivering utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC projects.
  • Familiarity with Australian and/or New Zealand utility standards, electrical regulations, and grid connection requirements.
  • Experience working with international EPC contractors on large infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of energization planning, commissioning coordination, and handover processes.
  • Experience working within multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments.
