Summary
We are seeking a Bid / Proposal Manager with a highly strategic profile and a commercial orientation to take full ownership of the bidding process for renewable energy EPC projects in Europe, with a focus on utility-scale Solar PV, BESS and hybrid solutions.
This is not a purely administrative bid coordination role. The Bid / Proposal Manager acts as the owner of the project cost sheet and the commercial architect of each proposal, consolidating all technical, commercial and local inputs into a single cost file ready for presentation to the board, and bringing the market sensitivity needed to define winning price levels across the different European geographies.
The successful candidate will coordinate the international technical hubs, structure and consolidate the engineering inputs into a robust cost matrix, secure internal approval by presenting and defending the cost sheet before the board, and ensure that the complete proposal is submitted to the client accurately, in the required form and on time.
This position reports directly to the Global Director of Business Development and operates with a high degree of autonomy and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and submission of competitive and compelling bids for Solar PV, BESS and hybrid EPC projects in Europe.
- Manage the complete bid lifecycle, from opportunity assessment and strategy definition to final submission and contract award.
- Take ownership of the project cost sheet: coordinate, consolidate and validate all technical, commercial, procurement and local inputs into a single, coherent cost file ready for presentation to the board.
- Prepare, present and defend the cost sheet and the pricing strategy before the board to secure internal approval of each offer.
- Ensure the complete proposal and supporting documentation are submitted to the client accurately, in the required form and within the established deadline.
- Define and take ownership of the pricing strategy for each offer, ensuring alignment between cost structure, market intelligence and the real probability of award.
- Coordinate and lead the international technical hubs, ensuring that engineering definitions, scope and estimations are properly structured and integrated into the cost matrix.
- Design, maintain and optimize the cost and pricing matrices for Solar PV, BESS and hybrid projects.
- Keep market knowledge up to date regarding EPC benchmarks, battery and equipment pricing, BOS, integration, logistics and local conditions of each European market.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, legal, finance and operations to ensure cohesive, accurate and competitive responses.
- Work in close coordination with the Business Development Managers to integrate client feedback into the bid strategy.
- Lead bid/no-bid decision processes together with management.
- Analyze tender documentation to interpret requirements and develop clear win strategies.
- Ensure proposals comply with all client specifications, industry standards and contractual obligations.
- Manage timelines, resource planning and bid schedules to meet demanding deadlines.
- Conduct post-bid analysis to identify lessons learned and reinforce future competitiveness.
- Participate in clarification stages, presentations and negotiations with clients.
Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Energy or similar) or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience of 5 to 7 years leading complex EPC bids in the renewables, energy or infrastructure sectors, ideally in utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects.
- Proven experience taking ownership of and consolidating project cost sheets, and presenting and defending pricing before management or a board.
- Proven experience working with battery manufacturers and strategic equipment suppliers.
- Solid knowledge of EPC cost structures, margin optimization and competitive pricing strategies.
- Clear commercial orientation and the ability to identify and execute winning approaches in competitive tenders.
- Experience coordinating multicultural technical teams and international hubs.
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience with cost modeling and pricing matrices.
- Excellent communication, leadership and coordination skills.
- High organizational capacity and simultaneous management of multiple tendering processes under demanding deadlines.
- Confidence in engaging with stakeholders and clients.
- Command of Microsoft Office and collaborative digital tools.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages will be a significant advantage.
- Right to work in the EU or the United Kingdom, depending on the location of the role.
- Passion for sustainability and commitment to quality and innovation.
