HV Procurement Manager (Solar PV & BESS)

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced HV Procurement Manager to join our team on large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects based in Australia and New Zealand. The successful candidate will lead the procurement of High Voltage (HV) equipment and services, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, timely delivery, and full compliance with project technical specifications, contractual requirements, and project schedules.

This position will be based in Madrid, Spain, with frequent travel to New Zealand during the procurement and project execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement of High Voltage (HV) equipment and systems, including power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, MV switchgear, protection and control systems, HV cables, overhead line materials, and substation equipment.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
• Prepare RFQs, tender packages, commercial evaluations, bid comparisons, and procurement recommendations.
• Review technical specifications together with engineering teams to ensure supplier compliance and technical suitability.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Logistics, Quality, and Commercial teams throughout the procurement lifecycle.
• Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with international suppliers and subcontractors.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, manufacturing capacity, quality standards, pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial risks.
• Manage supplier relationships from purchase order award through manufacturing, inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), shipping, customs, logistics, and site delivery.
• Monitor procurement schedules, identify supply chain risks, and implement mitigation plans to maintain project milestones.
• Support contract administration, variation orders, claims management, and supplier performance evaluations.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, contractual obligations, and project specifications.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation, supplier databases, purchase orders, and procurement reporting.
• Identify opportunities for strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost optimization across international projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of procurement experience, including significant experience with High Voltage equipment for utility-scale energy projects.
• Proven experience procuring HV equipment for Solar PV, BESS, substations, transmission, or power generation EPC projects.
• Strong understanding of EPC project execution, procurement strategy, and contract management.
• Excellent technical knowledge of power transformers, HV and MV switchgear, protection and control systems, HV cables, substations, and grid connection infrastructure.
• Experience negotiating international supply agreements and managing global supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of Incoterms, international logistics, import/export processes, and supply chain management.
• Excellent analytical, commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English is essential.
• Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis, particularly to New Zealand project sites.

Preferred Experience

• Procurement experience with international EPC contractors.
• Utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project experience.
• Knowledge of Australian and New Zealand utility standards and grid connection requirements.
• Experience working with leading international manufacturers of High Voltage equipment.
• Experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments.
