As an international company, we are looking for an Accountant based in Nouakchott-Nord Region, Mauritania.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting roles, preferably within EPC, construction, energy, or infrastructure sectors
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and ability to follow and interpret applicable financial regulations
- Proven experience in executing accounting transactions in line with internal procedures, policies, and compliance requirements
- Strong experience in trial balance control and month-end / year-end closing processes
- Ability to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and current account reconciliations
- Experience in payment processing, cash management, and bank transactions
- Sound knowledge of cost accounting, particularly in project-based environments
- Experience supporting tax filings, statutory declarations, and regulatory reporting, in coordination with external advisors
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Navision, or similar); strong proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office tools
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, international environment
- Fluent in English (written and spoken
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an asset
- Previous experience in a global or multinational company is strongly preferred
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions and supporting documentation
- Perform ledger entries, reconciliations, and controls in accordance with company policies and international accounting standards
- Execute and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
- Prepare and support internal financial reports for local management and headquarters
- Monitor project-related costs, expenses, and financial movements in coordination with project and site teams
- Support payment processes, cash flow tracking, and bank reconciliations
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and local authorities when required
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes
- Provide support during internal and external audits
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analyses and reporting requested by regional or global finance teams
