As part of our international growth, we are currently seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join our team in Mauritania.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
  • Previous experience in the renewable energy sector is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to develop detailed electrical design drawings, technical specifications, and all required documentation for High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) systems in accordance with client requirements, project budgets, and schedules.
  • Support tendering activities and supplier development in collaboration with the Supply Chain team.
  • Develop electrical system architectures.
  • Proven experience in preparing Bills of Quantity (BOQ) and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for suppliers.
  • Evaluate suppliers' technical proposals.
  • Good knowledge of applicable international standards, electrical codes, and engineering calculation methodologies.
  • Prepare technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering consultants and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and similar design software.
  • Experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or equivalent power system analysis software is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and communication systems is a plus.
  • Experience with 2D engineering design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong planning, organizational, multitasking, and reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, including One-and-a-Half Busbar, Double Busbar, and other substation configurations.
  • Design and specify HV, MV, and LV electrical equipment in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and local regulations, including current transformers (CTs), voltage transformers (VTs), surge arresters, and associated equipment.
  • Perform electrical network calculations and power system studies.
  • Conduct short-circuit analyses, load flow studies, grounding calculations, and electrical equipment sizing.
  • Perform protection and coordination studies, including relay coordination and selectivity, HV/MV protection schemes (50/50N, 51/51N, 67/67N, 21/21N, 87L, 87T, 27, etc.), generator protection relay settings, and the development of protection philosophies in accordance with international standards.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and technical reports related to HV and LV AC systems, auxiliary transformers, power transformers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform LV, AC/DC, MV, and HV system calculations, including cable sizing and conductor selection.
  • Carry out voltage drop calculations, power loss analyses, reactive power compensation system design, and other electrical engineering studies in compliance with local regulations, international standards, and client specifications.
